23.2 The Tribes Prepare for War
Quraysh went out to war, led by Abu Sufyan. They had four thousand warriors, three hundred horsemen, and one thousand five hundred men on war camels. The banner had been given in the House of Debate to Uthman ibn Talha whose father had been killed at Uhud. They were joined by Banu Fazara who came out to war with thousands of warriors including one thousand camel men. Two lesser tribes came with four hundred warriors each, and Banu Asad joined the march, so that in total they were ten thousand warriors. Abu Sufyan was made head of all these armies. |
